In the late 1890s Anne is mistakenly sent to stay with her elderly siblings Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert who live on Prince Edward Island. The story ends in 1919 and Gilbert and Anne remain happily together. Gilbert is 55 years old and remains affectionate with Anne.
